The Police Command in Oyo State has debunked the reported shooting of EndSARS protesters in Ogbomoso by its personnel.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some youths had, on Saturday, stormed major streets in Ogbomoso to demand the ban of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), an arm of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
One of the protesters was said to have been shot by the police in the process.
An eyewitness told NAN that the victim was shot in the leg by the police when the protesters reached Owode police station in Ogbomoso.
The witness said that the man was shot, as the policemen were trying to ensure that the station was not attacked by the protesters.
He added that the victim had been rushed to an undisclosed hospital in the town.
However, the Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Olugbenga Fadeyi, in a statement issued in Ibadan on Saturday, said that the police did not fire a single shot at any protester.
Fadeyi said that the protesters were allowed to express their grievances for over one hour.
“According to the information I gathered from the officers monitoring the protest, the police did not fire shot at anybody.
“The protesters were allowed for over one hour to carry out their protest and express their grievances until when some of them wanted to forcefully enter the police station with a view to attacking it.
“The police only fired teargas to disperse the protesters; they did not fire shot at anybody as widely reported,’’ Fadeyi said.
cPanel price increase could affect the entire web hosting industry
Regardless of which web hosting service you use for your website, you could soon see a major price increase due to the fact that cPanel announced over the summer that it would shift to an account-based pricing and licensing structure next year.
If you're not familiar with cPanel, the company provides shared web hosting users with a Linux-based graphical user interface (GUI) and control panel which simplifies website and server management.
While some web hosts offer their own alternatives to cPanel, they pale in comparison to the industry standard control panel.
In order to stand out in the increasingly crowded web hosting market, many providers offer cPanel as standard while others do so as an add-on that users can add to their plans for a price. However, cPanel's price increase, which will go into effect on January 1 of next year, will likely lead the web hosts that do offer the control panel as standard to raise the price of their plans to justify its inclusion.
cPanel price increase
cPanel's new account-based pricing and licensing structure will apply to its partners, cPanel Store customers and distributors.
The company explained the move in an email that was sent out to partners and distributors which explained that it is aimed at simplifying the process of adding new servers and will also make it easier for users to become customers. The web hosting market has changed significantly since cPanel was originally released in 1996 and servers have now become powerful enough to run hundreds of sites on a single processor.
The new structure defines the price of each license based on the number of accounts hosted on a server and customers will soon pay for only what they use. cPanel will also move its customers to a monthly billing schedule and when annual licenses come up for renewal, the company will convert them to monthly licenses unless a customer chooses to let those licenses expire.
The company's prices will be increase significantly for both hosting providers and resellers which is why web hosting prices across the board could be set for a major rise once cPanel's new pricing goes into effect next year.

Asst. Corps Marshal Imoh Etuk, Zonal Commanding Officer RS2 ( Lagos/Ogun), on Tuesday urged road users to be more careful during Ember months to avoid accidents, deaths and injuries.
Etuk also advised them to comply fully with Novel Coronavirus ( COVID-19) prevention guidelines to prevent spread and save Nigeria from more deaths.
Etuks made the appeal at the launch of the zone’s 2020 Ember Months Campaign in Lagos.
The campaign had the theme: “Drive Safe, Stay Safe”.
According to him, although novel coronavirus was ravaging the world, more lives had been lost to road accidents than to the pandemic.
He noted that a total of 4,737 people died in 9,698 road accidents in 2019 in Nigeria while 30, 744 people sustained various degrees of injuries.
He also noted that Nigeria had lost 1,113 lives to COVID-19.
Etuk said that the figures showed that the number of lives lost to road accidents in 2019 in Nigeria was almost four times the number of lives lost to COVID-19 in the country.
“It is against the backdrop that the FRSC Zone 2, in July and September partnered some stakeholders to launch COVID-19 Enlightenment Kiosk to educate the public on COVID-19 safety protocols and also to educate the motoring public especially in motor parks on best driving practices to keep the highway safe for all road users.”
He blamed much of road crashes to speeding, saying that FRSC was determined to tackle it with the introduction of a speed limiting device and enforcement of its use by commercial vehicles.
“One of the critical offences the corps focused on is overloading.
”The dangers of overloading a vehicle are enormous.
“It hampers the driver’s ability control the vehicle; overloaded goods also pose a safety challenge to other road users,” he added.
He said that the zone was committed to ensuring that COVID-19 would not be spreading among the motoring public.
The Lagos State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemi, who was represented by the Head of Operations of FRSC in Lagos State, Mr Cyril Matthew, said that the commission would not relent in keeping Lagos highways safe for users.
He advised commercials and private vehicle drivers to exercise caution during the Ember months to reduce accidents.
He urged them to embrace defensive driving, adding that they should drive within the recommended speed limits for their classes of vehicle.
He cautioned against use of phone while driving, overloading and other acts that could endanger their lives or those of others while on the roads.
The Ogun Sector Commander, Corp Commander Ahmed Umar, advised drivers to always consider other road users.
He noted that more driving occurred during the Ember months, urging drivers to be more careful.
A former President of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Mr Ayo Fanimokun, also noted that there were more vehicles on the roads during Ember months.
He appealed to road users to obey all traffic rules and regulations to reduce accidents.
In his good will message, the President, National Union of Road Transport Workers Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, who was represented by the Asst. National Secretary of the union, Mr Adedokun Taiwo, said that members of the union were complying with the COVID-19 guidelines.
Akinsanya said that the union would continue to educate commercial drivers on the need to be more careful during Ember months.
David de Gea was absolutely livid with Manchester United’s backline againstTottenhamin their 6-1 defeat and singled out Luke Shaw for a particularly poor piece of defending.
The Red Devils suffered their joint-worst defeat in the Premier League against a rampant Spurs side at Old Trafford despite having taken the lead from the penalty spot in the first few seconds of the match.
Tottenham responded with quick-fire goals from Tanguy Ndombele and Heung-min Son before the floodgates opened after Anthony Martial was shown a red card.
Ogun state Governor, Dapo Abiodun has been slammed by Nigerians for giving the winner of the 2020 Big Brother Naija reality TV show, Olamilekan Agbelesebioba, (aka Laycon) a sum of N5miillion and a 3-bedroom bungalow.
Recall that he also appointed Laycon as the Youth Ambassador of the state yesterday. Giving update on his social media handles, Governor Abiodun said: “We have appointed the winner of the Big Brother Naija Lockdown, @itslaycon Youth Ambassador of Ogun State in addition to house and cash gifts.“I relayed this development today, when I played host to Olamilekan Moshood Agbelesebioba, AKA Laycon in my Oke-Mosan office in Abeokuta.
“The appointment and gifts are a celebration of Laycon’s good character, intellect and virtues which were proven to the whole world on live TV as better choices than vices.“A proud son of Ogun State, Laycon displayed the essence of focus in the face of temptations and provocations.
This is the true Ogun State spirit, and it indeed confirms that this earned him his academic achievement at the University of Lagos.” But, it appears Ogun indigenes and Nigerians in general, are not pleased with the decision of Abiodun to give Laycon such gifts, especially after winning a grand prize of N85million in the contest.
The statement from the Governor was greeted with many negative reactions as people accused him of misplaced priority. To some, Big Brother Naija is not a show that any governor should be proud of, as they described it as one that promotes indecency and immorality among Nigerian youths. It will be recalled that the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, once called for the replacement of BBNaija with a more beneficial programme.
Oba Ogunwusi said the show misrepresents the goodness of the Nigerian youths. Reacting, Nigerians condemned Abiodun’s gesture towards Laycon. Here are some of their comments as compiled: Funmilayo Ogedengbe-Oresile: “This is totally a disgrace to the Ogun State Government.
Do you know how many brilliant citizens of Ogun State are out there suffering, that can’t even get a living? Some are wandering around to get school fees, while some had graduated years ago with good grades but nothing to do as a living. Does it mean education is not the best legacy any longer? Why do we embrace immorality over education?
What lesson does the just concluded BBNaija input in the lives of the youth or what impact does it have over the nation? It’s better you look for something doing rather than doing rubbish.”
Oduwole Abdul-Rasaq: “What value does BBN bring to society? With abandoned projects still many in Ogun state, that N5m can do something on J4 to Waterside road.” Fadhilah Adewunmi: “This is pathetically disappointing. Big Brother Housemates are now the role models the youth should emulate. What moral etiquette has BBNaija taught the youth? Big shame and disappointment to this direction-less governor.”
Aderanti Adebayor: “Mr Governor, please don’t encourage mediocrity and stupidity, rather make credibility and excellence your watchword. Bbnaija is good, but it’s not the best way to encourage viable and productive youths. Be more progressive in your approach.”
Kolawole Fadeyi: “Oga, you better stop your unnecessary wasting of the taxpayers money. All our roads are bad, people are facing hardship in the state. Anyway, the remaining two years will determine your position and history will not be kind to you.” Chuk Zach:
“This is very disappointing, what was the moral or societal benefit of the BBNaija that warranted the winner this state government appointment? I bet you have never given such recognition to best graduating students or those who have even served well in the society. I am totally disappointed. How do you encourage people to study, make research and make life more meaning for all? DISAPPOINTED!” Eri Arojah:
“Hmmmm… Well, if Mr Governor can go to higher institutions to see so many students who are unable to pay school fees, you won’t dash out 5 million to someone that is rich already. Nigeria will always be Nigeria; we are suffering seriously. This is not your promise, Mr Governor.” Olubunmi Samuel:
“This year overall best students in JETS competition throughout Nigeria were not recognized by the governor despite making the state proud. So it’s those set of people that locked themselves up in a room engaging in every form of immoral acts that can inspire the Governor?” Taiwo Sulaimon:
“What a waste of Ogun State money! You should be ashamed of yourself. You don’t give productive people cash gift. You are a disgrace Mr Governor.” Adigun Akeem: “BBNaija is now a measure of intelligence. What are we promoting? I’m jealous of his luck but I don’t think this kind of program should be recognized by a government. Mothers start to go and make juju for their children to be chosen for the stupid show.”
Mathew Godspeed: “This is highly unacceptable. BBN hasn’t contributed anything positive to the lives of Nigeria youths, instead it kills our morals. There are hardworking youths out there working ceaselessly for a better future, but you didn’t even bother to appreciate them.”
Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Ka3na has reportedly acquired a new house.
She made this public in an Instagram post. She wrote:
“Feels much like home now having my Lila @miss.jones.13 with meWho wants to have a tour of my home??Go follow my daughter @miss.jones.13#ka3nathebosslady”
The Cambodia Police have apprehended two Nigerian nationals and a local woman in Phnom Penh, for their alleged involvement in online scamming.
General Lieutenant Neth Savoeun, the director of National Police, who confirmed this on Monday, October 5, said the arrest was carried out by officials from the Anti-cybercrime department led by lieutenant Chea Pove, and coordinated by the Phnom Penh court prosecutor, on October 1.

Spokesperson of the command, ASP Ramhan Nasel, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday, October 6, said that the suspect, without the consent of their parents, lured the victims from Benue State to Lagos on the pretext of giving them jobs.
“On 29/09/2020 at about 1430hrs, Police personnel attached to Nasarawa Eggon division, acting based on credible information, intercepted a Volkswagen Sharan vehicle driven by one Godwin Yaasa ‘m’ aged 35yrs of Benue State conveying one Rita Oti and six other occupants whose age ranges from 16yrs to 24yrs on transit to Lagos State,” said ASP Nansel.
“Upon interrogation, it was discovered that, Rita Oti A.K.A Mama Gee ‘f’ aged 40yrs of Ebonyi State, on the pretext of giving the victims job, criminally lured Blessing Williams ‘f’ aged 16yrs, Mercy Agidi ‘f’ aged 17yrs, Jennifer Shummaver ‘f’ aged 24yrs, Catherine Moses ‘f’ aged 23yrs, Moses Zam ‘m’ aged 19yrs, and Benjamin Amni ‘m’ aged 21yrs all of North bank, Benue State without the consent of their parents and was conveying them to Alagbado area of Lagos State before she was arrested at Nasarawa Eggon LGA of Nasarawa State,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police,CP. Bola Longe has directed that the case should be transferred to state criminal investigation department, Lafia for exhaustive investigation and unite the victims with their families.

An officer of the Nigerian Correctional Service has reportedly committed suicide after being denied promotion for three consecutive times. According to Peoples Gazette, he had passed three exams without promotion.
Alfred Bassa, an assistant superintendent of prisons, wrote promotional examinations three times, passed three times and suffered denial from correctional authorities three times, the Gazette learnt from three sources, including a senior colleague, knowledgeable about the incident.
“He decided to end the nightmare by taking his own life,” one of his senior colleagues told the Gazette under anonymity for fear of any reprimand because he was not an authorised correctional spokesperson. Mr. Bassa, 28, brought a Sniper bottle with him when he arrived at work at the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Keffi, drinking the lethal pesticide in his uniform, sources said.
Colleagues said Mr. Bassa did not appear to suffer from any mental health crises before the incident. Sniper has been banned in Nigeria because of its frequent use for suicide, but the product has remained in circulation. Suicide prevention centres are rare in the country, and the only reachable one in Lagos has cut its response hours due to the pandemic.
The tragedy on October 2 sent the entire facility into panic, and prison authorities in Abuja swiftly moved in to hush it, sources said. His demise came as the correctional service was promoting officers to new ranks.
The approvals were communicated last week to affected officers, which did not include Mr. Bassa, an official said. Mr. Bassa was scheduled to get married to his long-time sweetheart on November 19, 2020, when the humiliation of being denied promotion for the third time became too much for him to absorb.
“He has watched as his contemporaries were being selectively promoted, including some who did not even pass promotional examinations,” an official said. He should have been at least promoted to assistant superintendent of prison II bar the injustice, his colleague said.
Mr. Bassa’s colleagues said they became demoralised after the incident and began mulling over their future at the correctional office. The correctional authorities have failed to pursue a closure on the tragedy, scrambling instead to hush it up, officials said.
Ja’afaru Ahmed, comptroller-general of corrections did not return a request seeking comments. A spokesperson for the correctional office was unavailable for comments Tuesday evening. The Gazette learnt that the matter was escalated to interior minister Rauf Aregbesola, who failed to take action.“He did not show any care about the young man that died when he was informed about it,” an official said. “Neither did he even bother to say he would launch an investigation into the injustice of selective promotion.” The Nigerian Correctional Service and its sister interior agencies have long faced allegations of injustice and gross misuse of power with regards to personnel promotion and other career progression policies.
In 2018, an Abuja resident sued the correctional service after being suspended from work for protesting selective promotion. The Immigration Service has faced similar allegations over the years. The multiple cases across the agencies strongly suggest a perverse culture of injustice at the services.“They only promote based on ethnicity, faith and your financial status,” an official said.
“It is unspeakable the level of fraud and injustice that comes with promotions in the service.” Federal authorities have always denied allegations of corruption in promotion, saying they usually come from lazy officers who often seek to rise through the ranks without actually putting in the efforts required. Mr. Bassa’s family, from Nasarawa State, said they would file charges to enforce his posthumous promotion.
