Ogun state Governor, Dapo Abiodun has been slammed by Nigerians for giving the winner of the 2020 Big Brother Naija reality TV show, Olamilekan Agbelesebioba, (aka Laycon) a sum of N5miillion and a 3-bedroom bungalow.
Recall that he also appointed Laycon as the Youth Ambassador of the state yesterday. Giving update on his social media handles, Governor Abiodun said: “We have appointed the winner of the Big Brother Naija Lockdown, @itslaycon Youth Ambassador of Ogun State in addition to house and cash gifts.“I relayed this development today, when I played host to Olamilekan Moshood Agbelesebioba, AKA Laycon in my Oke-Mosan office in Abeokuta.
“The appointment and gifts are a celebration of Laycon’s good character, intellect and virtues which were proven to the whole world on live TV as better choices than vices.“A proud son of Ogun State, Laycon displayed the essence of focus in the face of temptations and provocations.
This is the true Ogun State spirit, and it indeed confirms that this earned him his academic achievement at the University of Lagos.” But, it appears Ogun indigenes and Nigerians in general, are not pleased with the decision of Abiodun to give Laycon such gifts, especially after winning a grand prize of N85million in the contest.
The statement from the Governor was greeted with many negative reactions as people accused him of misplaced priority. To some, Big Brother Naija is not a show that any governor should be proud of, as they described it as one that promotes indecency and immorality among Nigerian youths. It will be recalled that the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, once called for the replacement of BBNaija with a more beneficial programme.
Oba Ogunwusi said the show misrepresents the goodness of the Nigerian youths. Reacting, Nigerians condemned Abiodun’s gesture towards Laycon. Here are some of their comments as compiled: Funmilayo Ogedengbe-Oresile: “This is totally a disgrace to the Ogun State Government.
Do you know how many brilliant citizens of Ogun State are out there suffering, that can’t even get a living? Some are wandering around to get school fees, while some had graduated years ago with good grades but nothing to do as a living. Does it mean education is not the best legacy any longer? Why do we embrace immorality over education?
What lesson does the just concluded BBNaija input in the lives of the youth or what impact does it have over the nation? It’s better you look for something doing rather than doing rubbish.”
Oduwole Abdul-Rasaq: “What value does BBN bring to society? With abandoned projects still many in Ogun state, that N5m can do something on J4 to Waterside road.” Fadhilah Adewunmi: “This is pathetically disappointing. Big Brother Housemates are now the role models the youth should emulate. What moral etiquette has BBNaija taught the youth? Big shame and disappointment to this direction-less governor.”
Aderanti Adebayor: “Mr Governor, please don’t encourage mediocrity and stupidity, rather make credibility and excellence your watchword. Bbnaija is good, but it’s not the best way to encourage viable and productive youths. Be more progressive in your approach.”
Kolawole Fadeyi: “Oga, you better stop your unnecessary wasting of the taxpayers money. All our roads are bad, people are facing hardship in the state. Anyway, the remaining two years will determine your position and history will not be kind to you.” Chuk Zach:
“This is very disappointing, what was the moral or societal benefit of the BBNaija that warranted the winner this state government appointment? I bet you have never given such recognition to best graduating students or those who have even served well in the society. I am totally disappointed. How do you encourage people to study, make research and make life more meaning for all? DISAPPOINTED!” Eri Arojah:
“Hmmmm… Well, if Mr Governor can go to higher institutions to see so many students who are unable to pay school fees, you won’t dash out 5 million to someone that is rich already. Nigeria will always be Nigeria; we are suffering seriously. This is not your promise, Mr Governor.” Olubunmi Samuel:
“This year overall best students in JETS competition throughout Nigeria were not recognized by the governor despite making the state proud. So it’s those set of people that locked themselves up in a room engaging in every form of immoral acts that can inspire the Governor?” Taiwo Sulaimon:
“What a waste of Ogun State money! You should be ashamed of yourself. You don’t give productive people cash gift. You are a disgrace Mr Governor.” Adigun Akeem: “BBNaija is now a measure of intelligence. What are we promoting? I’m jealous of his luck but I don’t think this kind of program should be recognized by a government. Mothers start to go and make juju for their children to be chosen for the stupid show.”
Mathew Godspeed: “This is highly unacceptable. BBN hasn’t contributed anything positive to the lives of Nigeria youths, instead it kills our morals. There are hardworking youths out there working ceaselessly for a better future, but you didn’t even bother to appreciate them.”
Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Ka3na has reportedly acquired a new house.
She made this public in an Instagram post. She wrote:
“Feels much like home now having my Lila @miss.jones.13 with meWho wants to have a tour of my home??Go follow my daughter @miss.jones.13#ka3nathebosslady”

Do you see Big Brother Naija as a bigger reality show than BB237?
Big Brother Naija finalist, Victoria Adeyele popularly known as Vee, has said that her fellow ex-housemate, Tolanibaj blocked her on Instagram.
In an interview with Olorisupergal, Vee was asked if she would ever settle her beef with Tolanibaj, and she said;
“I don’t have beef with Tolanibaj, beef is when it’s two-sided, I didn’t block anybody, I did not follow anybody.” Vee said.
Asked if Tolanibaj blocked her, Vee said; “Yes, I am blocked, but I am not beefing anyone, I intend on being civil with her. But one thing I don’t do is force things.”
Recall that in another interview, when asked who she might not have a friendship with outside the house said, Vee said; “in all honesty, it would most likely be Tolanibaj.”
Popular instagram sensation and influencer, Samuel Perry popularly known as Brodashaggi was spotted in a video shedding tears of joy as Laycon emerged the winner of BBNaija season 5.

The Big Brother Naija season 5 will come to an end on Sunday September 27, 2020.
Housemates, Laycon, Vee, Nengi, Neo and Dorathy made it to tomorrow’s grand finale.
Since the beginning of this season, many viewers see Layton as a potential winner of this year’s event.
And now, fellow housemate, Vee, who is also good friend of Laycon has tipped him for victory.
During their conversation last night, Vee said, …”I have a strong feeling that you are going to win. That’s me personally and that’s who I am.”
Thanks to Amazon Farms, the Housemates unleashed their ultimate cooking skills in Biggie’s House. Today’s Cook Up A Storm Task is all about the benefits of organic foods and eating healthy. Unlike previous Tasks where the Housemates had to compete against themselves, this will be a Challenge between the Lockdown gang versus Big Brother and for this reason, Biggie told them that it will not be an easy ride, so they better come prepared.
The Task is divided into small parts to help with seamless execution and this article focuses on the first part which involves them turning into chefs in Biggie’ House.
Get prepared and cook
For this Task, Biggie provided the necessary merchandise, study material and food baskets containing ingredients – all this is in preparation for their cooking. The rules for cooking is simple:
All Housemates must cook their own individual and distinct meal.
All meals must be traditional African meals.
Dorathy went first and prepared some yam pottage, next went Nengi with some Nigerian jollof rice and chicken. Vee came through with efo riro and eba, Neo prepared some okra soup with eba and finally, Laycon rounded up the cooking Task with a nice plate of white rice and designer buka stew.
Variety is the spice of life
Each Housemate was given one hour to cook their meal.
While a Housemate started cooking, the other Housemates were not permitted to assist or be in the kitchen. From jollof rice to efo riro and some delicious looking yam pottage, the Housemates kept us drooling all through this Challenge.
Let’s see some of the meals they made
Do you think the Housemates will beat Biggie in this Task?
Staying busy and entertaining
From preparing for the Amazon Farms Task ahead to having a mini talent show in the Lounge, the Lockdown Housemates sure kept us entertained today.
Laycon’s side of the story
After his mini altercation with Vee in the Lipton Ice Tea Task, Laycon explained his side of the story to Neo during a workout today.
Eagle eye fans of Big Brother Naija Housemate, Laycon have dug out an old tweet of the star who seemed disturbed and emotionally unstable over the happenings in his life.
The fans dived into his tweets and brought up old tweets of what he wrote in 2019. Laycon dropped hints he would soon meet up with his dad shortly after his father died.
Recall that Laycon recently spilled the beans on his genotype which attracted a lot of sympathy and pity from his fans.
Nengi has reacted to the dare that made Wathoni kiss Kiddwaya after their Saturday Night party.
While speaking with Ozo after the party, Nengi reiterated that “kissing is way too personal for her’, and she cannot just kiss anyone without having some sort of personal feelings towards that person, adding that ‘You have to be my boyfriend, for me to be able to kiss you’.
Wathoni was dared to Kiss Trikytee, but declined to the dare, saying she’d want to choose a housemate to kiss.
She then went to Nengi for help, “Help me choose between Kiddwaya and Prince”.
Nengi picked Kiddwaya, and then Wathoni and Kidd locked lips for over 20 seconds!
After the First Saturday Night Party in the Big Brother Naija Lockdown House, the housemates in their usual tradition started a game of truth of dare..
And the first dare was for Wathoni to kiss TrikyTee.
Wathoni declined and said she’s at liberty to pick whoever male housemate she wants to kiss.
And then Wathoni asked Nengi to help her pick between Kiddwaya and another housemate.. And Nengi chose Kiddwaya.
Below is the moment Wathoni walked up to Kiddwaya and they both locked lips for 20 seconds.
Popular Ex-BBAfrica housemate, TV presenter and model, Uti Nwachukwu has predicted that BBNaija Laycon will emerge winner of the 2020 Lockdown edition of the reality TV show.
Backing his opinion, Uti said the first week of Big Brother Naija usually points out the winner. He said a particular kind of ‘grace’ usually follows the housemate, leading to eventual victory.
In His Words;
“Usually in the first week of #Bbnaija a certain kind of grace follows a particular Hmate.
The masses inexplicably like, have empathy/sympathy for and unshakably start the support/ ‘stanning’ of that Housemate leading to their eventual VICTORY. This year that housemate is LAYCON”.
It looks as though Laycon is the only housemate many Nigerian celebrities are supporting. Just yesterday, celebrities like Skiibii, Reminisce, Dotun and many others showed support for the rapper, who has proven himself to be more sound than he appears physically.
Nengi has emerged the winner of the first-ever Head of House challenge in the Big Brother Naija Lockdown edition!
Today’s Head of House challenge was different from what you would usually expect. Biggie brought out a game that was like a BBNaija twist to the popular Snakes and Ladders game. The housemates were given the rules and told to take turns to play across a mat with numbered squares until they reached the end of the game or to score as high as they could under one minute.
Sounds like a piece of cake? The game is not as easy as it sounds though. The housemates could only start the game by throwing a die that landed on a six, and even then, their progress could be hampered or encouraged by the instructions found on the square they landed upon. Some squares would ask the housemates to start afresh (talk about starting from square one!), some others would ask the housemates to hastily drink water or hurriedly peel and eat an egg.
Although none of the housemates initially got to the end of the game, Nengi and Neo both scored 18. In a bid to break the tie, Big Brother asked them to roll the die again. Amazingly, Nengi and Neo tied with the same score two more times!
At this point, we feel like Big Brother may have become exasperated with the frequent ties, so he asked them to both throw the die and the first person to score a two would win the game. It was purely a game of chance, but obviously, Lady Luck was on Nengi’s side because she emerged as the first-ever Head of House in the Big Brother Naija Lockdown edition!
For the next one week, Nengi will enjoy all of the privileges of the Head of House and will also enjoy the HOH lounge, which includes a bedroom, sitting area, and a private bathroom. She will also get to sit on the special Head of House chair.
In an interesting turn of events, Nengi selected Wathoni as her deputy Head of House. As deputy, Wathoni will also get to live in the plush HOH lounge with Nengi.
As part of the ground rules, Big Brother mentioned that the housemates would play this same game every Monday as they vie for the title of Head of House. He also hinted that there would be a quiz on Thursday to test how much the housemates had discovered about each other.
The Head of House challenge was super exciting and we look forward to seeing Nengi rock her new status as head of house. Talk about girl power!
The drama and non-stop action of Big Brother Naija is just getting started and you don’t want to miss any part of it! Stay tuned to DStv Channel 198 and on GOtv Channel 29 to watch the BBNaija show.
Olamilekan Agbeleshe known by his stage name Laycon is a 26 year old rapper and singer from Lagos. He graduated from the department of philosophy from the University of Lagos in 2016, and he was one of the best graduating student in his set.
Laycon started his music career at an early age and has now emerged as one of Nigeria’s most promising act as his E.P which he dropped months back went from just some mere streams to a hundred thousands plus streams across all platforms after he was mocked online at the inception of the big brother show last night for looking malnourished like a kwashiorkor patient by lots of Nigerians. Many felt that he has no business at all in the house cause when he was asked what’s his spec, he gave a rather not incline answer and was just staring staring at other housemates all through the night.
But as at filing this report, Laycon’s shame has turned to fame as his fan base is now going high, he is the most trended housemate now and his fan base is increasing massively, top celebrities like Don Jazzy, Denrele Edun e.t.c are now rooting for him. His EP went from just 25 streams to 16,000 streams just last night. Could he be the next Efe who won the BBN show like this in 2017? Only time will tell. Like Efe who had a word associated with him “Base on logistics” Laycon’s word now associated with him is, “Just have sense”. He made this statement when he was asked what was his spec last night.
Laycon is currently the favourite and most talked about housemate at this moment. An interview with him, he revealed that he acquired an habit of reading his bible during the lockdown.
A Nigerian lady on Instagram identified as Helena, has expressed regret of ignoring recently unveiled Big Brother Naija 2020 housemate Laycon, after he slid into her DM in 2016.
According to @Purcahontas, Laycon has been in her DM since 2016 till 2019 when he stopped sending her messages. She further disclosed that she will live with the regret of not giving Laycon attention if he goes on to win the 5th edition of the reality show.
She shared screenshots from her DM from that year, where Laycon was begging her for a follow back to a time in 2019 when he told her point blank he wanted her.
Some of the BBNaija 2020 housemates are already getting to know each other better with some even flirting.
Well, it seems like Nengi has her eyes on Ozo after admitting that he’s cute and handsome.
A recent video shows Nengi and Ozo talking about relationships. The look on her face couldn’t help but speak of love as she revealed the kind of person she is in a relationship.
To show she has interest in Ozo, she suggested he might be a womanizer as she admitted that he’s handsome.
