Thiago Silva Accepts Blame For Chelsea Second Goal Against West Brom

Newly signed Thiago Silva has accepted the blame for his error against West Brom on his debut match that resulted in the second goal against the Hawthorns.

The 36-year-old failed to control the ball properly in the middle of the field to let Callum Robinson has an easy ride to sloth the ball past Willy Caballero and Kyle Bartley made it 3-0 just two minutes later.

Chelsea rallied back to secure a 3-3 draw against Slaven Bilic’s men before the end of the regulation time.

Silva is big enough to own up when things do not go his way.

“I am upset, but I take responsibility for the mistake I made, as I always did,” he wrote on Instagram.

“As difficult as it may be, we have to get over this and move on.”

There comes a time in everyone’s career when performances begin to drop off.

It remains to be seen whether Father Time has caught up with Silva but he assured fans of his dedication to the Chelsea cause.

“I promise to all of you that I will give everything I have on the pitch, putting all my energy and commitment into the games to come,” he added.

The Brazilian defender has won seven Ligue 1 titles while lifting the Coupe de France on five occasions.

Add to that six Coupe de la Ligue titles and it is clear that Chelsea has brought a winner to west London.

The South American was part of the PSG side beaten 1-0 by Bayern Munich in the delayed Champions League final on August 23.

Chelsea will be up against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
